Ribbon Blender
When blending granules it is important that one chooses a blender that does not impart too much force onto the granules because this might cause the granules to break down or create additional fines in the end-product. One type of blender that is suitable for the blending of tough granules is the ribbon blender. This kind of blender is designed 
for the blending of dry solids but it also allows for the introduction of liquids. This makes this type of mixer very suitable for the de-dusting of granules. The ribbon blender we own is a blender from the company Morton and this blender has a nominal capacity of about 1500 litres. This machine can be used in order to gently blend tough granules with a minimal risk of breaking down the granules.

Ribbon Blender
One should exercise care when picking a blender for the blending of granules because it needs to be a blender that exercises minimal force on the granules in order to prevent disintegration or unnecessary breakdown of the granules. The ribbon blender is one type of blender that can be used for this but it does have limitations. The granules must not be too fragile.

How do these ribbon blenders work?
A ribbon blender normally consists of a u-shaped horizontal trough with specially designed mixing blades in the shape of ribbons. The ribbons positioned on the outside move the granules in one direction and the inner ribbons in the opposite direction. These moving ribbons thus transfer the product radially as well as laterally through the machine in order to ensure an efficient blending action.
The design is such that these blenders are easy to operate, load and discharge and they are easy to clean.
