Drum Blender
The mixing of granules on a continuous basis is one of the specialist blending services Custom Powders can offer you. The principal of mixing is to blend 2 or more components in order to create a homogenous end-product. The chemical composition, the density of the products, the colour and other characteristics of the different granules can however differ considerably and therefore it is very important to decide what the exact specifications are that one wants to achieve.
When blending fragile granules it is important that it is being done in such a way that the granules during processing dont get damaged or change shape. Therefore it is critical that the right type of blender is chosen for the job in order to ensure that the product can be blended in the right manner without too much shear. One of the gentlest means for blending granules is the rotating drum blender.

Drum Blender
The blending of granules often requires a special type of blender. We have available a rotating drum blender that is very suitable for the blending of delicate granules. This blender has been specifically designed for the very homogenous mixing of fragile powders and granules.
The blender consists of a rotating drum into which the product is fed in a controlled way for mixing. Very little impact is imported onto the product and that ensures the break down risk of the granules is minimised as much as possible.
With continuous blending the product is fed to the mixer from an upstream process where it is than blended for a specified period of time before it is discharged from the blender again. After blending the product can be packed off or moved on for further processing.
Batch blending is often preferred if very accurate batch traceability is required or if further processing steps require exact measured quantities. The advantage of continuous blending is that more product can be processed in less time and therefore it is normally a more cost effective option than batch blending.
