In the powder & granule processing industry the name Custom Powders stands for top quality, high reliability and the best service. No shocks.

By exercising a fervent innovative policy, we have succeeded in becoming one of the most important parties in this market and a reliable partner to our customers. We have gained this position by listening carefully to what our customers want and translating these wishes into specific and efficient solutions.

We achieve this performance using a highly experienced, dedicated operations team. Time served skilled operators ensure the quality and integrity of every customer’s product is maintained. That takes 2,000 hours of training and average service stands at 20 years.

We offer the broadest range of processing services and apply our knowledge, experience and passion to the best of our means, in order to provide you with the best possible solutions.

Founded in 1979 in Crewe by Peter Colyer (MD) the company relocated to its current site in 1984. The move allowed the introduction of purpose designed production suites with each process room associated with its own warehouse. Every warehouse has its own external entrance. This way we prevent cross contamination.

From the outset, the company ethos was to provide the highest quality service to our customers through continuous investment in high quality facilities, equipment and not least in a highly skilled and valued production team.

Our investment in quality enabled Custom Powders to be one of the first small companies to achieve ISO9002 in 1988, this was subsequently upgraded to ISO9001. In 2012 we achieved the accreditation of the first process suite to FSSC 22000, with accreditation of the full Crewe UK site in 2015.

We match our investment in quality with investment in our employees. It takes typically 4 to 6 years training for an operator to achieve full technical competence and training continues throughout their employment.

We invest thousands of hours in training including internal CVQ (company vocational training) and then external accredited NVQ (now QCF) technical training. The investment, the skill and the diligence of our operating staff is a core part of Custom Powders achieving world class performance in care for our customers’ products.

Over 25 years the Crewe facility has expanded and now encompasses 13 process suites capable of completing a huge range of powder processing processes. Many units are multifunctional, most are capable of operating to the highest food standard FSSC 22000.

In 1995 the decision was taken to expand production to the continent and work started building the Helmond NL facility. This facility is designed and run to the same quality as the UK operation.

We recognise and value the importance of our small team supporting our production activities. After all, they are probably the most frequent, hence important, contact with every one of our customers.

Whether it is ensuring logistics run smoothly or changes to process requirements are accurately transferred to production, the quality of the communication from our support team ensures Custom Powders operation runs smoothly and efficiently.

Laboratory support and quality assurance is fundamental to the security of Custom Powders operation. Every shift of production is independently cross checked and deviations are rigorously investigated to ensure the product we dispatch is consistent and to the right quality.

In addition, the QA function encompasses regular monitoring of the production environment to ensure the safety health and wellbeing of our operators and neighbours are rigorously maintained.
